I’m also thrilled to announce the date for our Northern Publishers' Fair which takes place in Manchester Central Library - be sure to check out the website for more details here and meet our publishers - https://www.flyonthewallpress.co.uk/northern-publisher-s-fair Plus have a snoop for our books on their shelves…
And in other exciting news, I’ve been working on some special collaboration plans with a Northern publisher that we'll be able to share with you soon.
In addition to our upcoming releases and events, we're excited to announce that Kenyon Author Services is launching a new course in February - Author Branding on Social Media (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook). Whether you're an aspiring or published author, building an online presence and author brand is essential for approaching publishers and agents, as well as connecting with readers and selling more books.
This course, led by Isabelle Kenyon, will focus on building a community of supportive fellow authors and providing practical skills, advice, and mentoring to help you effectively use social media to reach more readers and form genuine, long-term relationships. Each platform requires a different approach, and this course will help you navigate the different strategies for building a strong author brand on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to take your author brand to the next level. Sign up and more information: https://www.kenyonauthorservices.com/academy-courses
Last year I loved inspiring students at schools and universities – it feels really important that they get exposed to indie publishers as experts in the publishing field – and in the next couple of weeks I’ll be leading a workshop at Arts University Bournemouth called "The Editorial Eye: Curating and Editing a Poetry Anthology." This workshop will explore the process of curating and editing a poetry anthology, from selecting poems to shaping the overall narrative of the collection. We’ll be looking at really interesting questions of bias and defining ‘quality’. I’ll also be the industry expert at Derbyshire Writing School’s courses called "Creating Your Poetry Collection”, with expert tuition by Charlotte Lunn, feedback on your work, and advice. I’m thrilled to announce that Fly on the Wall Press has joined Inpress representation this month. This partnership will give us improved visibility in bookshops, something we work very hard on. Inpress is a leading independent book distributor in the UK and we are excited to have their support in getting our books into the hands of more readers.
Lastly, hold onto your socks for next month: we're excited to announce that our next poetry collection "Imperfect Beginnings" by Viv Fogel will be released on February 28th, 2023. Pre-orders here: https://www.flyonthewallpress.co.uk/product-page/imperfect-beginnings-by-viv-fogel This collection of poems explores themes of belonging, exile, and family, and is sure to be a thought-provoking and moving read.
